Excel Energy was established in 2022 with a foundation built on technical expertise, integrity, and a commitment to delivering high-quality electrical engineering services. From the beginning, we focused on building trust through reliable work and a hands-on approach, supporting clients across a diverse range of projects.  

By staying responsive to industry developments and using our team’s experience, we have consistently grown our reputation and expanded our service offering, UK and EU. 

Our growth from XL Electrical Excellence to Excel Energy demonstrates our ongoing commitment to quality, client satisfaction, and exceptional improvement. 

MEET THE FOUNDERS

Nick is the founder and Managing Director of Excel Energy, producing nearly two decades of experience in Electrical Engineering and the renewable energy sector.  

With 16 years as a senior electrical engineer at XL Electrical Excellence Ltd, he has deep expertise in commercial photovoltaics, battery energy storage solutions, EV charging points, hydro, and wind turbines.  

Nick leads the team in delivering robust renewable energy systems and building a more sustainable future.  

His international project experience covers multiple countries and continents, enabling him to overcome challenges and deliver successful results for clients.  

Nick is recognised for his commitment to excellence, consistently delivering exceptional service, high-performance systems, and projects completed to the highest standards, on time and within budget. 

With certifications such as MIET Eng Tech, CITB, and Gold JIB Graded, he is dedicated to innovation, safety, and customer satisfaction within every project installation.

Vera assembled Excel Energy with her husband and business partner Nick. With 15 years of experience, Vera combines industry expertise with a strong commitment to sustainability, supporting businesses on their path to greater energy efficiency.  

Vera has been awarded ‘Leading Trailblazer in Energy Sustainability 2026’ for the Businesswoman Awards 2026. 

Vera’s leadership and commitment to sustainability are driving forces behind Excel Energy’s mission to empower UK businesses to lower carbon emissions and reduce energy costs. 

Her dedication has helped shape Excel Energy into a trusted partner for organisations across agriculture, manufacturing, and large-scale commercial sectors.

2011 - The Beginning of XL ELECTRICAL EXCELLENCE LTD

XL Electrical Excellence Ltd. was founded in 2011 as an electrical engineering company, including being a solar installer partner for various PV companies.

2012 - XL Electrical Excellence Awarded

XLEE was awarded 16 farm rooftop solar project installations across the country with their channel partner, Enviko Energy.

2013 - SolarSense partnership

SolarSense chose them as their installation partner for a series of solar projects between 2011 and 2013. During this period, they completed 16 residential and 5 commercial solar PV installations for SolarSense, providing reliable systems designed for each site.

2014 - 22 Installations

They installed a commercial solar PV system for Hurst Pier Point College, helping them reduce their carbon footprint and improve energy efficiency. The XL Electrical Excellence Ltd team installed 22 additional commercial solar PV systems, providing reliable renewable energy for a range of clients.

2015 - wENTWORTH 12,000
SQ INSTALLATION

Wentworth 12,000 sq ft mansion: complete wiring, including Rako Controls automation equipment for mood lighting, curtains, swimming pool, sauna, cellar, and a waterfall. They also installed 17 commercial solar PV projects, including 8 Scotmid Co-Operative Stores.

2016 - 33 installations

Completed solar PV installations on 22 residential apartments, 9 commercial rooftop projects and 2 ground mount systems.

2017 - 7,000 sq ft mansion in
chelsea completed

XL Electrical Excellence Ltd completed the installation for a newly built 7,000 sq ft mansion in Chelsea, including advanced home automation controls. They delivered an electrical fit-out for a 10,000 sq ft oak-built mansion with barn conversions, a swimming pool, sauna, and cinema. They have also delivered solar PV for contractors BAM and Kier.

2018 - Complete solutions for
10,000 square ft mansion

They completed a full electrical wiring fit out for two restaurants located within a 10,000 square foot mansion in Kingston upon Thames. Delivering a complete and detailed solution designed to meet the needs of this notable property, all electrical systems were installed to the highest standards of safety and efficiency.

2019 - sUPPORTING tESCO'S
SUSTAINABILITY GOALS

XL Electrical Excellence Ltd worked with SolarSense and Push Energy to deliver commercial solar PV installations across multiple Tesco sites. This joint effort allowed them to provide high-quality, reliable solar systems that support Tesco’s sustainability goals and reduce their carbon footprint.

2020 - perseverance through
covid challenges

Despite the challenges presented by the COVID lockdowns, they reached a new milestone by completing 8.8MW of solar PV installations. Including: the retrofit of 180 houses with solar panels, delivered with SolarSense and Ameresco Tesco.

2021 - Installations for lidl,
tkmaxx, rspcb, avon fire

Despite ongoing COVID lockdowns and restrictions, they completed commercial solar PV installations for clients including Carpet Right, Lidl, TK Maxx, RSPCB, Avon Fire, and several WWT Wetland Centres.

2022 - The Beginning of
Excel Energy

Excel Energy has delivered a range of commercial solar PV projects, including a 201 kWp system for Byron & Byron and an 89 kWp installation for Beckenham Care Home. Working with ARC Renewables, we also installed solar PV systems across seven blocks of flats in London.

2023 - COMPLETING A 1,580 Kwp
SYSTEM FOR QUIDELORTHO

We have delivered four commercial solar projects, including installations for Arc Renewables and Myriad Facade Hoists (Phase 1, Factory). Notably, we completed a 1,580 kWp system for QuidelOrtho in Wales and the Bryn Quarry Phase 2 project.

2024 - The INSTALLATION OF A
139.5 KWP

Qualiturn Products Ltd commissioned the installation of facade hoists as part of Phase 2 of their office expansion at Fort Stamford.

2025 - NINE COMPLETE COMMERCIAL SOLAR installations

In 2025, Excel Energy successfully completed nine commercial solar PV installations, including a landmark 350 kWp system for Unilever at their Leeds aerosol manufacturing site. We also installed a ground-mount solar PV installation for Euro Foods Group Ltd at the EFG Food & Technology Park.

PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS

Our project highlights from 2025-2026 include a range of commercial and agricultural solar PV installations, each designed to meet our client’s requirements. 

For Unilever Leeds, we delivered a 350kWp solar PV system as part of Phase 1, alongside a detailed feasibility study for a 2MW Combined Heat and Power system. We also completed an 18kWp installation for the Charity of Civil Servants, a 27kWp system for Sussex Yacht Club, and a 31kWp project for Take 3 Ltd.  

Additional projects include a 51kWp system at Church Farm in Podimore, a 30kWp installation at Hardwicke Farm, and a 135kWp system for Stowford Manor. At Castle Farm, we provided a 75kWp solar PV system with 64kWh of battery storage, and at Church Farm in Oxhill, we installed a 76kWp system.
