Commercial Solar Services General FAQs

At Excel Energy, we offer a number of comprehensive renewable technologies.

We design and install commercial solar PV panels, which we can then monitor and maintain.

Additionally, we can install energy storage systems to new and existing solar panel solutions, improving your system performance.

We also design and install various EV charging solutions, from large-scale charging port systems for car parks to smaller-scale charging ports for smaller businesses.

All of our services are comprehensive, meaning that we complete site survey applications and project implementation. Once your system is up and running, we are also able to monitor and maintain your systems to ensure their optimal performance for as long as possible.

A final service we offer is a consultancy service, where we can provide up-to-date information and guidance on your project.

We can work in any sector. We create bespoke commercial solar PV panel and EV charging solutions based on your business needs, meaning that we are not limited to working within specific sectors or industries.

There are several benefits of installing a commercial solar panel system on your business property.

These include:

  • Reduced energy bills
  • Energy independence from the National Grid
  • Reliable energy production
  • Sustainable energy production
  • Predictable energy costs
  • Enhanced reputation as an environmentally friendly business

Several factors will determine the suitability of your property roof for solar panels.

Factors include:

  • Roof orientation and angle: For optimal performance from your system, the orientation of your roof and the angle will determine the suitability. South-facing roofs with a tilt angle matching the latitude typically receive optimal sunlight exposure.
  • Roof condition and structural integrity: You will need to make sure that your roof is in good condition and its structural integrity is still in place to ensure it can support the weight of solar panels and withstand the installation process.
  • Shading: Shading will prohibit the panels from absorbing as much sunlight as possible, reducing their performance. Therefore, before installing solar panels, you need to consider if your roof is covered by shade from other buildings, trees and the surroundings.
  • Available roof space: As a business, you will need to be generating a certain amount of energy to operate. With this in mind, you need to ensure that your rooftop has enough space to hold as many solar panels as needed to generate your required energy amounts.

We can provide a site survey where we will assess the suitability of your building for commercial solar panels and report back to you our recommendations.

If you are looking for commercial solar panels or EV charging solutions for your business, we will get to know you and your business through an initial consultation phone call and a site survey.

On our site survey, we will assess the suitability of your property, and get a deeper understanding of your operations and energy needs as well as discuss a timeline. With this information, we will go away and design a custom solution that will meet your needs. We will send the proposed designs and a quotation; we will run through the design stimulation and ensure that you are completely satisfied with the detailed proposal.

Once the quote and plans have been approved by you, we seek permission from District Network Operators (DNO) and where applicable planning consent is obtained. Once the permission is given we will finalise your solution and arrange a date to start the installation process.

Our team will work efficiently to stick to the timeframes put in place, adhered to the health and safety RAMS  and will ensure you receive a professional and friendly service while on your site.

Why not start your solar panel journey with us today by getting in touch.

If you aren’t able to afford a solar panel system outright, there are many finance options and grants available.

We offer a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA), where you can benefit from solar panels and a reduced energy rate without the initial installation fee.

Additionally, various regions and sectors might offer grants and incentives to help you purchase a solar panel system. We recommend you research local authority grants that might be available.

The time frame for installing a solar panel system will depend on the complexity of your system.

If you are working to a tight timeframe, we can discuss this as the site survey and will do our absolute best to ensure we complete our work within it.

We will complete any checks and research regulations that your area might have around installing solar panels on your business property.

While designing your solution, we will ensure that these regulations are adhered to.

Most commercial solar panel installations don’t require planning permission as it is classed as “Permitted Development”. However, we will also check this prior to installation during the planning and designing stages.

The average life span of commercial solar panel systems is between 25 years and 30 years.

However, in order for your system to last this long, you will need to ensure careful maintenance and regular services by professionals.

Solar panels are designed to be self-cleaning so rainwater will provide a sufficient clean, however for optimal performance it is recommend that solar modules are cleaned annually especially in  areas prone to dust and Seagulls.  Most of the time, rainwater will provide a sufficient clean.

Annual servicing by a professional is recommended as they will complete thorough inspections and tests to ensure every part of the system is functioning as it should. These allow the technicians to spot any potential defects and provide preventive maintenance.
